Campaign Questions

If you are a student, member of staff, alumnus or alumna of our partnered Universities then you may launch a campaign on Crowdfund Campus.
No, you have to be associated in some way with our partnered Universities. You could be a student, or an alumnus, faculty, management or administrative worker. The important thing is you have a personal connection to a University.
Crowdfund Campus develops relationships with important stakeholders in University Communities to enable successful fundraising to take place.  Only when we feel the online community is strong enough to successfully fund projects will we accept other Universities onto our site. If you feel like your University is ready for Crowdfund Campus and want to get involved to help the launch don’t hesitate to contact us at support@crowdfundcampus.com
At Crowdfund Campus, we run ‘all-or-nothing’ campaigns, so if the campaign goal isn’t reached within the time limit then the money is not transferred. The only exception is if you want to run ‘donation’ campaigns, without any rewards.
The time limit is dictated by you, we will advise you on the best length of time for your campaign and give you a maximum time limit of 90 days.
The homepage currently shows all campaigns.
In short, any idea! It can be a charitable campaign, a creative campaign (like film, music or theatre) or something business related. We will assess the viability of your campaign and will work with you to give it the greatest chance of success.
It’s easy. Create an Account on this website, and you will be taken through a step-by-step process to creating your campaign. For more detailed information and to see a video please see our ‘Get Funded‘ page. Our team will also take you through a 2 week preparation course before your launch your campaign.
A typical campaign on Crowdfund Campus gets started by friends and family, boosted by alumni and the University community and completed by the market which you are aiming your project. You are responsible for your own marketing and promotion and the more active you are, the greater the chance of success. We offer free workshops to everyone that wants to launch a campaign on Crowdfund Campus and marketing will be one of the topics we focus on during these sessions.
At Crowdfund Campus we work hard to build relationships with key stakeholders from your University Community. We are able to market some campaigns through these organisations.
Be proactive. Update your campaign and use social media regularly. Make sure you have a video too. Evidence has also shown that you are 20% more likely to have a successful campaign if you yourself have more than 1000 friends on facebook. For more tips and hints, contact us.

Contributor Questions

Crowdfund Campus develops relationships with important stakeholders in University Communities to enable successful fundraising to take place.  Only when we feel the online community is strong enough to successfully fund projects will we accept other Universities onto our site. You are however able to contribute to the projects and businesses coming out of other Universities, which are already hosted on our platform. If you feel like your University is ready for Crowdfund Campus and want to get involved to help the launch don’t hesitate to contact us at support@crowdfundcampus.com
No, anyone can contribute towards the campaigns which offer a reward in return for your contribution. You could be a friend, family, student, alumni, faculty, a stakeholder, customer or just an interested passer-by.
Contributors should be aware that there are risks when backing crowdfunding projects and there is no way to make sure that the funding is spent responsibly. Crowdfund Campus tries to provide more security than other sites by personally vetting each campaign and meeting the people behind each campaign. Most of our projects and ventures are usually ones which have been referred to us by University stakeholders, therefore some due diligence has taken place on all campaigns. If you are concerned about the validity of any campaign, please contact us immediately.
If the campaign is a ‘not for profit’ campaign then yes.
Do not hesitate to contact us if you have a question about contributing. We endeavour to answer all queries within 24 hours, including weekends.
We currently only accept payments in GBP, but you can pay with any credit or debit card.
Find a campaign that is open and collecting funds, click ‘Back this project’, type in the amount you wish to contribute, choose the reward you want to receive (if available) and then enter your payment information.
No. At no point does Crowdfund Campus hold funds. When a contributor makes a pledge to the campaign, the funds remain in their account until the campaign has ended. If the campaign is successful then we will process the transactions the funds will go straight from the contributors account to the project, with our fee, and the payment processing fee siphoned off in the process.
No. All payment processing is currently handled by Stripe. Data is encrypted and sent over a secure SSL connection to Stripe and Crowdfund Campus cannot see the card details at any time.
Primarily this is a fundraising platform looking for financial contributions. However as we grow we are hoping to add extra features such as educational resources and mentor schemes so ensure our campaigns and the businesses and projects that come out of these campaigns are successful. Please contact us at support@crowdfundcampus.com if you would like to get involved in non-financial ways.

General Questions

We provide a platform for University Communities to raise money for projects, ideas and businesses. Importantly we also provide a full service around that, providing a preparation course for all our campaigns.
People contribute for a variety of reasons but usually it is to get involved with their University Communities which they love and receive rewards for their contributions.
You only need an account with us when you contribute or pitch. We will need to keep a record of the contributions or pitches you have made, even if your account is no longer active.
It costs nothing to register on Crowdfund Campus. It also costs nothing to launch a campaign. Crowdfund Campus takes a small fee from the total amount raised from a successful campaign. This is 5%. In addition Stripe costs a further 2.4% + 20p per transaction in payment processing fees, therefore the total cost to a campaign is around 7.4% if it successfully hits the target.
Once a project finishes creating a campaign it is submitted to Crowdfund Campus for moderation. This process includes: - checking identities (what is their affiliation with the University?) - the information provided is not misleading or dishonest - there is sufficient information - the rewards are deliverable On multiple occasions Crowdfund Campus has prevented a campaign from launching due to these criteria. In addition, the University can veto the launch of any campaign, or cancel a campaign at any time should they feel it necessary.
